Retirement Community Options for Everyone

I have had several prospective clients coming into our area lately to get their first Florida home. Many of whom had initially targeted age-restricted communities in their web searches as they wanted to be in a retirement community. Although those searches left them a bit underwhelmed, I was able to provide several more options to them after a short discussion. Here’s why.

Let’s find your dream retirement community!

There are two types of retirement communities in our area. There are age-restricted communities and age-targeted communities. Age-restricted communities are specifically aimed at persons age 55 and older. The housing must include at least one person who is age 55 or older in at least 80 percent of the occupied units. Further, anyone under the age of 19 is restricted from being a permanent resident.

Age-targeted communities are similar to age-restricted communities, except that their amenities and marketing target adults age 55 or older rather than mandating only 55 or older people live there. Although anyone can live in these communities, they have naturally developed into wonderful retirement communities.

By expanding your home searches to age-targeted communities, you will see several more wonderful options. Whether you are looking for golf, tennis, community pools, clubhouses, and/or resort style settings, there is a wonderful community for you. I am happy to help you find it whenever you are ready.
